My interest in holistic health began with a BSc in neuropsychology from the University of Alberta 1994. This led me into health care (home, primary and acute) where I worked in training and development and management for twenty years. In 2010, health care in Alberta was in upheaval; I took this as my opportunity to pursue deeper and growing passions for alternative health and eastern subtle body studies.
In 2011, I completed a yoga teacher training through Heart & Gaitri Yoga in the Kootney Mountains of British Columbia and the same year opened a local home Studio Matters of Heart Yoga for my community. Further certifications include Yin Yoga with Bernie Clark, pre-natal yoga with Colette Crawford, Ayurvedic Yoga Therapy with Sacred Seed and meditation through the contemporary Mclean Meditation Institute in Sedona, Arizona. My passions for yoga, meditation and contemplative writing have become my lifestyle.
Since 2011, I have been privileged to teach over 3000 classes which have included people ranging in age (children to seniors) and ability (various injuries and limitations) as well as varying class sizes (1-55). I am especially passionate about the integration of mind/body/soul and in healing the neurological stories of our Fate.
My daily practice includes 45-90 min of meditation, followed by contemplative writing and a yoga practice; I enjoy art and creative expression through blogging, mixed media and appreciate active life in nature as much as possible. I am passionate about living life beyond our conditioning.
The stories we tell ourselves re-create the world we live in. I believe each life experience is unique, each person holds deep potential to their own unique genius and with contemplation, integration and integrity life can unfold with wonder, meaning, passion and the birth of something new. This is essential in our growing uncertain times. This is what I call wholehearted living.
My teaching includes Meditation (breath, body, yoga nidra, progressive muscle relaxation, SEED, loving kindness, heart, mantra, tratika and others) Yoga (Hatha, Gentle, Flow, Yin and Restorative), Ayurvedic and lifestyle Consultation and Contemplative Writing (journaling, blogging, publication). I am certified to teach internationally with Yoga Alliance (RYA) and Mclean Meditation and am deeply supportive and inspired by anyone who courageously aspires to “know thyself.”
“All the knowledge I possess everyone else can acquire, but my heart is all my own.” Johann Goethe
